 Film Idea And Screenplay

The screenplay for the film was written by director Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman but also apparently had a breif contribution from Brad Pitt who also worked on some other aspects other aspects of the film. The idea was quite a fresh one as director Vaughn happened to meet with the designer of the comic Mark Millar at the stardust premiere and they just sat and worked on a rough idea of a superhero story thought up by Millar as the comic was still being made when the film was. So despite what people say neither was based around its counterpart.
The Director

The director was Matthew Vaughn. He has been involved in many high profile films with both producing and directing roles. Vaughn produced both Lock, stock and two smoking barrels and Snatch. Before directing other high flyers such as Layer cake and Stardust, and now kickass.

The Cast (Main)

The cast was not actually as star studded as some might have thought, with one member only 11 at the time of filming

 Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass
Nicolas Cage as Damon Macready/Big Daddy
Chloƫ Grace Moretz as Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl
Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D'Amico/Red Mist
Mark Strong as Frank D'Amico
Lyndsy Fonseca as Katie Deauxma
Michael Rispoli as Big Joe
 Budget and Production details

What sets “Kick-Ass” apart is that director Matthew Vaughn was able to get it made outside of the studio system.  For instance, Sony was willing to make the film but only if Vaughn turned Hit Girl (played by 12-year-old Chloe Moretz) into a teenager rather than a pre-adolescent who happily hacks off limbs that aren’t hers with a samurai sword.  Vaughn said no, made it his own way, and turned out as one of the stars of this year’s Comic-Con. Despite hollywoods love of all things comic book Vaughn was turned down by every studio he approached for financing. As they thought that it was a 'betweener' and was not a kids film nor an adult. Determined to make the film work Vaughn and a consortium of investors used thrier own money to raise the $35 million budget.

My Opinion

I like this film because there has never been a superhero film (well i use the term superhero loosely in this case) where the hero is not actually superpowered but a wanna be. As well as that the film causes you many a laugh with the not so serious aspects but also a gripping and thrilling adventure full of ups and downs with the action and emotions involved.

Key scenes

This is a key momment within the film as it sets up the start of his rise to superhero stardom it is also the first fight scene setting up the feel of an action genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTFv8zaoFdI
